Brawl Stars from Supercell packs team battles, battle royale, and sports-style modes into matches that usually finish in under three minutes. It has more than 500 million installs on Google Play and is updated in themed seasons, each bringing new Brawlers, skins, and modes. You can play solo with random teammates or queue with friends.
The current version, 69.252, delivers Update 69, titled Royal Academy and Brawl-O-Ween. It introduces two new Brawlers, a 20-player mode, a back-to-school theme with a Duolingo collaboration, and a Halloween mystery. The update runs from September to October 2026, so the themed events are time-limited, while everything else, from the core modes to progress saved through a Supercell ID, carries over unchanged.

Brawl Stars 69.252: what changed
The update has been available since September 4, 2026. Its notes read:
UPDATE 69: ROYAL ACADEMY & BRAWL-O-WEEN
Sept 2026 – Oct 2026
∙ NEW BRAWLER! Cosmo, a magnetic robot scientist who uses gravity to his advantage!
∙ NEW BRAWLER! Vince, a bug-obsessed barista who fires caterpillars and coffee at enemies!
∙ New 20 player mode! Mega Boss Duo teaches the art of Brawling!
∙ It’s back to school with the Brawlers and a Duolingo collab!
Update 69: Royal Academy and Brawl-O-Ween
The new Brawlers are Cosmo, a magnetic robot scientist who uses gravity to his advantage, and Vince, a bug-obsessed barista who fires caterpillars and coffee at enemies. Mega Boss Duo is a new 20-player mode described as teaching the art of Brawling. Brawl Pass Season 54 carries the Royal Academy theme.
The seasonal side includes a back-to-school event with a Duolingo collaboration and a Brawl-O-Ween mystery solved with a new companion, Gus’ balloon. As with most seasons, the new Brawlers can be unlocked through progression or purchases, and the themed event content rotates out when the next update arrives, so updating early gives you the most time with it.
Modes and how matches work
Gem Grab asks a team to collect and hold 10 gems, Brawl Ball is a soccer-style match won with two goals, Bounty rewards eliminations with stars, and Heist has teams attack the opposing safe while defending their own. These run in 3v3 and 5v5 formats. Showdown is the battle royale option, played solo or in duos.
Each Brawler has a signature attack, a Super ability, plus unlockable star powers and gadgets, so learning a few well matters more than collecting many. Special events add limited PvE and PvP modes, player-designed maps appear in rotation, and the Championship Challenge offers in-game qualifiers for the competitive esports circuit.
Two-stick controls on a wide range of phones
Supercell does not publish hardware requirements in the listing, but the game uses a stylized top-down view that tends to run well on a broad range of Android phones. Matches are short and the controls rely on two virtual sticks, one for movement and one for aiming, which works comfortably on smaller screens and suits quick sessions between other tasks.
The game downloads extra content after installation and again with major updates such as Update 69, so keep some free storage available. Because every match is played online against real opponents, a stable connection matters more than raw processing power. Notifications and camera access are optional permissions, and the game works without them.
Supercell ID, purchases, and ratings
Progress is saved to Supercell’s servers, and connecting a Supercell ID, the same login used in Clash Royale, lets you recover your account on a new phone or play on several devices. Clubs let you team up with regular partners, and leaderboards track local, regional, and global rankings. An internet connection is needed for every mode, so play on a stable network.
The game is free to play with in-app purchases, and the listing notes that some purchasable items are random. Supercell suggests disabling purchases in device settings if you do not want them. Google Play rates the game Everyone 10+, while the listing states an Indonesian IGRS rating of 15+. Optional camera access is used only for scanning QR codes.

Can I avoid the random paid items?
The listing says some items bought with real money are random. Supercell suggests turning off purchases in your device settings if you do not want them.

[…] Classic Mode is the centerpiece: up to 100 players parachute in, loot weapons and gear, and fight inside a shrinking safe zone. The listing also names Payload, fast 4v4 Arena battles, and Infection Mode, plus a rotating set of maps. Matches in the quicker formats are advertised at around 10 minutes, which suits short sessions, though a round still runs longer than a typical match in Brawl Stars. […]
